DJ Black Barbie is a well-known name in the urban music scene as she has been djing for over a decade. The Stockholm DJ has warmed up for world artists such as Diplo, DJ Snake & Zara Larsson. She has also been a tour DJ for some of Sweden’s foremost artists such as Erik Lundin, Madi Banja & Frej Larsson. She has frequently played at Sweden’s biggest festivals and Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö’s hottest nightclubs. What not many people know is that Maria, as she is actually named, also writes songs and produces music. When the pandemic hit and there were no DJ gigs, she decided to finally finish her debut EP, which she and the producer Mr sober have been working on for a long time but never really got to finish. Unlike the party prinsess Dj Black Barbie, the artist Black Barbie goes more in depth with her melancholic self-reflective lyrics about heartbreak to a catchy pop sound.
